13 Peaks is about pure adventure. It gives you the opportunity to pretty much traverse most of the Cape Town mountain range all in one day. It’s a special run on some gnarly trails. For me the day turned out to be a lot more than just running, it was about community, my community. It brought my friends and family together, supporting me and the beauty of moving in the mountains. Whether you’re doing the Multi Day attempt or One Day, I highly recommend people to go give this a bash! What Ryan has created is epic and I’m looking forward to one day getting my Impossible Badge.
“‘The A Team’ - It was so rad to have my mates crew me on the day! It really brought to life what this FKT is about - community.”
“Switching between trail and road shoes, but mostly contemplating why I’m doing this haha. 13 Peaks really tests your ability with all types of trail, not to mention the road running through Hout Bay, up Chappies, and the final 8km stinger of Tafelberg Road at the end”
“It got pretty toasty during the Silvermine leg! Nothing like an ice sponge to cool you off.”
“This is where it started to get a bit tough. Muizenberg Peak marks the “turn around point” of the route. Luckily I had mates who came out and cheered me on throughout the day at aid station’s, some even going as far as joining me for some sections along the route”
“Plenty of calories were not only burnt, but also consumed!”
“Constantia Nek was rough! I love this image of my mates laughing at the fact that I was fighting a couple demons in the pain cave!”
“It was awesome to have my family and friends out there getting involved and supporting me throughout the entire day.”
